Updated Facebook Messenger App

In the past, Facebook engineers have been often and heavily criticized over the quality of the social giant’s mobile apps. However, today I’m here to report that there might still be some hope left. The most recent update for the official Facebook Messenger app for Android brings a whole bunch of new features, as well as some improvements to the overall performance of the app.

First up, there are couple of new features designed to save you bits of precious time: in-app notifications now give you the ability to switch between conversations much more quickly than in the past, while the “swipe to delete” function allows you to delete individual messages from conversations. Another new and interesting function is the ability to include friends of friends in conversations. The new update now also allows you to see who is online (although a better word for it is available) before starting a conversation, a function that many have been expecting for quite a long time.

Also, the official Facebook Messenger Android app now allows the sharing of bigger photos than before, and adds a few tweaks such as “tap for full screen” or “pinch to zoom” (it sure took Facebook a while to bring two of the most common features to their Messenger App). Some additional bug fixes and speed tweaks are also mentioned in the “improvements” list.

You can grab the new update from the Google Play link here. After you do, make sure you drop by and let us know what you make of the new update!
